Bike, Hike & Hybrid Excursions
What are Bike, Hike & Hybrid Excursions?
An excursion is an organized trip ranging from 4 to 20 miles depending on the type of excursion. A Caroline Green’s guide will lead a group of participants along some of the most scenic natural vistas Cleveland has to offer. There are 3 types of excursions available; a biking excursion, a hiking excursion and a hybrid excursion. hybrid excursion are as the name implies an excursion on which you ride a bike to a hiking trail head and then hike a loop path back to the bikes for the return ride. We also offer excursions where the return ride is on the scenic Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
In addition to a guided trip we also offer a meal option at the halfway point of most routes, please call for availability. Some routes also offer an option to purchase refreshments on the route. These stops include; The Eagles Nest Cafe, Quarry Rock Cafe, Sweetwater Landing and the downtown districts in Berea, Peninsula, Boston and Valley View.
What to Bring
Hikers should wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Wear comfortable shoes and sun protection. Recommended items include water bottle, sun screen, sun glasses, hat, or bandana.
For Night HIkes & Rides you should bring a flash light, bug repellent
What to Expect
HIkers
Hiking in the park is not a walk in the park. Hikers should be prepared to hike up hills and over difficult terrain. Most trails are wide, smooth and flat but there are sections that require significant effort. Please see the difficulty rating section below for more information.
Bikers
Biking in the park involves hills of varying length but the terrain is generally smooth and appropriate for all bike types.
Hybrids
Hybrid Excursions involve both hiking and biking sections. In general you should be prepared for both.
Picnics & Snack Stops
If you have purchased a Picnic on the excursion, you should expect to arrive at your picnic area and eat your meal. Many rest stops have restrooms and other park facilities including visitor centers, shops and attractions. Caroline Green’s will take care of the clean up.
If you have selected the Snack Stop Option you can expect to have a rest stop in an area with shops or restaurants available for your use.
